Xie Lei (b. 1983 in China) has lived and worked in Paris since 2006. Graduated from CAFA in Beijing and ENSBA in Paris, he received his PhD (practice-based) in visual arts in 2016 from École normal supérieure and ENSBA in Paris. His works have been exhibited in numerous institutions and are featured in many public and private collections, such as the TBA21 (Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary) Collection, MAC VAL, Burger Collection, Rennie Museum in Vancouver, X Museum in Beijing, and Albertina in Vienna.
