The Dead Mother
by Debbie Robson
I miss the constant ephemerality of clouds. The long, drawn-out plunge to earth to rescue more souls. Their quiet acceptance as they follow me to heaven. The equivalent now? A blaze of traffic lights. The slamming of doors as they climb into my cab and I ask, Where to?
Debbie Robson is the author of Tomaree, a WWII love story set in Port Stephens, New South Wales, Australia; and Crossing Paths: the BookCrossing Novel, inspired by that wonderful website www.bookcrossing.com. She loves to write fiction set in the first sixty years of the last century. She also writes poetry and has performed some of her poems in Sydney, the Blue Mountains, and Newcastle.
